AIG Public Leader Programme Celebrates Graduation in Abuja

Last week in Abuja, Ofovwe Aig Imoukhued celebrated the graduation of the fifth cohort of the AIG Public Leader Programme, which included 68 senior public servants from seven African countries. The event provided an opportunity to reflect on the challenges of institutional reform within public institutions.

Imoukhued emphasized that reform is not merely a technical exercise, as institutions often resist change due to established norms and career structures. He noted that while technical tools and policy solutions exist, the real challenge lies in navigating the incentives and relationships within existing systems.

Leaders must be patient and persistent, as reform often requires political capital and can face daily friction. The AIG Public Leader Programme aims to equip participants with the necessary technical tools and strategic management skills to effectively implement digital governance and manage institutional dynamics.
