Türkiye to Build Military Training Facility in Nigeria

Türkiye has agreed to establish a military training facility in Nigeria to enhance the country's defense capabilities and security architecture. This agreement was finalized during bilateral discussions between Nigeria's Minister of Defense, Christoph Musa, and Turkish Minister of Defense, Yaşar Güler, at the Antalya Diplomacy Forum on Sunday.

The training center will serve as a long-term hub for developing the Nigerian Armed Forces, with a temporary site already identified at a suitable coastal location. The facility will focus on specialized training in areas such as special forces operations, counter-terrorism, intelligence integration, and counter-drone operations.

The partnership also includes technology transfer, collaborative development of military capabilities, and enhanced border management. The agreement is expected to begin immediately, with technical engagements to define implementation strategies.

This collaboration comes at a crucial time as Nigeria seeks to strengthen its defense partnerships in response to evolving security threats.
