The economic landscape in Nigeria complicates this situation, as a recent Reuters report indicates that many Nigerians struggle with rising costs of living despite earning above the minimum wage. The International Labour Organization reported in August 2026 that global youth unemployment rose to 12.4% in 2025, affecting approximately 67 million young people aged 15 to 24.
