Nigeria Secures 150 Terrorist Convictions in Two Days

The Nigerian Federal Government recently accomplished a record-breaking 150 convictions of terrorists within a two-day mass trial, marking a significant achievement in the country's criminal justice system. Attorney General and Minister of Justice Lateef Fagbemi announced this development while addressing journalists in Abuja.

This mass trial is part of a broader strategy initiated by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's administration to clear the backlog of terror cases and accelerate justice for offenses linked to insurgency and organized crime across the country. The recent trials follow a previous phase where approximately 500 alleged terrorists were tried from April 7 to 10.

President Tinubu has issued stern warnings to terrorists, bandits, and kidnappers, urging them to surrender. The government has also approved the recruitment of 50,000 police officers and thousands of military personnel to enhance security efforts.

Additionally, Kogi State Governor Ahm Usman Ododo has emphasized the need for a robust approach to eliminate terrorism, following the recent killing of notorious bandit leader Kachala Ibrahim Batijo.
