Ray Mercer to Join Lagos Boxing Event in December 2026
Ray Mercer, the American boxing legend and 1988 Olympic gold medallist, will be a special ringside guest at 'The Street Rumble' in Lagos on December 13, 2026. This grassroots boxing event, organized by Match Maker Sports International, will take place at Maracana Square, Ajegunle.
Brila Media has been announced as the official media partner for the second season, which aims to increase visibility for Nigeria's emerging boxing talents. Mercer, known as 'Merciless', won the heavyweight gold medal at the 1988 Olympics and later became a WBO World Heavyweight Champion.
The event seeks to identify and promote young fighters from grassroots communities, building on the success of the inaugural edition held in April. Mike Adeyemo, CEO of Match Maker Sports International, expressed enthusiasm for the partnership with Brila Media, emphasizing the goal of providing a platform for young boxers to showcase their skills and develop their careers.
