Labour Party Overcomes Challenges, Elects New Leadership

Abia State Governor Alex Otti announced that the Labour Party has moved past its challenging period during a press conference following the party's national convention held on April 28 in Umuahia. The convention successfully elected a new National Working Committee (NWC) led by Nenadi Usman.

Otti emphasized that there were no winners or losers in the party's internal conflicts, stating, "no victor, no vanquish," and urged unity among party members. He highlighted the importance of true leadership as service rather than personal gain.

Otti also noted that reconciliation efforts within the party are already yielding positive results, with 25 state chairmen from opposing factions attending the convention and returning to the new NWC. He reassured party members of his full support and expressed confidence in the Labour Party's preparations for the 2027 general elections, emphasizing the need for unity to strengthen the party's position in Nigeria's political landscape.
