Nigerian Theatre Commander Vows to End Insurgency in North East at WASA 2025 Event

Major General Abdulsalam Abubakar, the Theatre Commander of the Joint Task Force North East Operation Hadin Kai, reiterated the resolve of the Nigerian Armed Forces to escalate operations aimed at conclusively eradicating insurgency in the North East region. This affirmation was made during the WASA 2025 event held at the headquarters of the Theatre Command Operation Hadin Kai and the 7 Division of the Nigerian Army in Maiduguri.

The event provided a platform to review the operational engagements of the past year, highlighting significant progress in restoring law and order in Borno, Adamawa, and Yobe states. Governor Babagana Umara Zulum of Borno State, representing the state government, praised the Nigerian Army for its continuous efforts in ensuring peace and security in the region. Brigadier General Ugochukwu Unachukwu expressed gratitude to the Borno State government for its support towards security operations.

President Bola Tinubu, Chief of Defence Staff General Olufemi Oluyede, and other dignitaries acknowledged the sacrifices and resilience of the troops in the fight against terrorism. The event also emphasized the need for sustained efforts to eliminate the remnants of terrorist elements in Borno State and the wider North East region.
