Ajos Opposes Hamzat's Consensus Candidacy in Lagos APC

Samuel Ajos, a governorship aspirant for the Lagos APC, publicly opposed the party's efforts to endorse Obafemi Hamzat as a consensus candidate for the upcoming 2027 elections. During a television interview on Tuesday, Ajos emphasized that any consensus decision must involve the full agreement of all aspirants and cannot be imposed.

He expressed concerns that the push for a single candidate undermines open competition and disregards the democratic process, which should allow all members to participate in primary elections. Ajos dismissed claims that the choice of a consensus candidate had the backing of President Bola Tinubu, arguing that the process lacked due diligence and proper engagement with all aspirants.

He noted that no official meetings had taken place to discuss a consensus and stressed the importance of grassroots support in determining the party's candidate.
