Ortom Questions Alia on ₦1.2 Trillion FAAC Revenue

Former governor of Benue State, Samuel Ortom, has called on the current governor, Hyacinth Alia, to clarify the expenditure of ₦1.2 trillion received from the Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC) since the removal of the fuel subsidy. Ortom emphasized that this amount includes allocations to the 23 local government areas, and the citizens of Benue deserve transparency regarding the utilization of these funds.

Terver Akase, Ortom’s media consultant, expressed concerns during a news conference in Makurdi, stating that Alia's administration has not provided a comprehensive account of how the funds have been used. Akase criticized the Alia administration for its silence on the financial inflows and questioned the lack of visible government projects despite the significant revenue.

In response, Alia's chief press secretary, Sir Tersoo Kula, defended the governor's record, arguing that increased federal revenue does not equate to unlimited resources and highlighted the economic challenges faced during Alia's tenure.
