Atiku Abubakar Reveals Miners' Disturbing Ordeal in Niger

Atiku Abubakar, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential candidate, recounted the distressing experience of a survivor from a group of miners who recently died while in custody of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Niger State. Following the deaths of 37 miners, both federal and state governments initiated probes into the incident.

In a statement released by his spokesperson, Phrank Shaibu, on Thursday, Atiku described the survivor's account as a "gory tale." The survivor revealed that 68 miners were confined in a small detention facility, where conditions became so dire that they had to drink one another's urine to stay hydrated. Atiku emphasized that no citizen should endure such indignity while in the custody of their government, condemning the treatment of the miners.
