APGA Demands Senators Abaribe, Ikwechegh Resign Seats

The Abia State chapter of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has formally demanded that Senators Enyinnaya Abaribe and Alex Mascot Ikwechegh resign from their positions in the National Assembly. This demand follows Abaribe's reported defection to the African Democratic Congress and Ikwechegh's switch to the Labour Party.

During a press conference held at APGA's public secretariat in Aba, Chukwuemeka Nwokoro, the party's spokesperson, accused the lawmakers of abandoning the platform that initially brought them to office. Nwokoro emphasized that the seats in the National Assembly belong to APGA, as the lawmakers were elected under its banner, and therefore, they no longer have the moral right to occupy these positions.

He further alleged that both Abaribe and Ikwechegh contributed little to the development of APGA's structure in Abia State during their tenure. Despite these defections, APGA expressed confidence in its political structure and ongoing efforts to strengthen its base ahead of the 2027 general elections, led by Abia State chairman Sundai Onukwubiri.
