ADC Condemns Wike's Threats Against Anti-Tinubu Candidates

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has condemned Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, for his remarks declaring a "war" against candidates opposing Bola Ahmed Tinubu ahead of the February 21, 2026 elections. In a statement signed by Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, the ADC described Wike's comments as irresponsible and dangerous, particularly during a time of economic hardship and political tension in Nigeria.

The ADC asserted that such inflammatory rhetoric is detrimental to the fragile atmosphere of the nation and warned that Nigerians will not be bullied or pressured into submission regarding their voting choices. The party emphasized that the power ultimately belongs to the people, not to any individual holding public office.

The ADC vowed to mobilize civil society and the electorate to defend the sanctity of the ballot and resist any overt or covert attempts to subvert the democratic process.
