ADC Condemns Wike's Polling Unit Presence in Abuja

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) issued a statement condemning the presence of Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, at various polling units in Abuja during the Area Council elections. The ADC described Wike's actions as a direct interference in the electoral process and a potential source of voter intimidation.

The statement, signed by Bolaji Abdullahi, emphasized that Wike is not a registered voter in the FCT and holds no constitutional role in the electoral process. The ADC raised concerns about reports of voter suppression and intimidation, including allegations of collaboration between Wike and APC agents, as well as security personnel.

Voters were urged to remain calm and vigilant, documenting any irregularities. Additionally, the ADC called for the urgent restoration of the Independent National Electoral Commission's (INEC) result view portal, which was noted to be inaccessible.

Wike was seen interacting with voters and monitoring the exercise, which the ADC labeled as vexatious and meddlesome.
