Three Farmers Killed, 17 Rescued in Borno Boat Accident

Three farmers were killed in a boat accident in Borno, with 17 others rescued. The incident occurred in Kubo ward in Shani Local Government Area on Monday morning, as the overloaded boat capsized while carrying 20 farmers to their farmland across River Kubo.

The National Emergency Management Agency confirmed the details, with the Chairman of Shani Local Government Area, Abdu Labaki, stating that the farmers were being transported to their farms when the tragedy struck. The community is now shaken, as farming activities in the area heavily rely on crossing the river.

This incident adds to the challenges faced by the community, as seasonal flooding has already destroyed homes and farmland across several local governments. Meanwhile, in northern Pakistan, heavy monsoon rains have led to nearly 400 deaths, with ongoing search and rescue efforts in place.

President Borno state has expressed sympathy and condolences to those affected by the recent disasters.
