Three Dead in Lagos Clash Over ₦200 Dispute

On August 28, 2023, a violent clash in the Ikola area of Ipaja, Alimosho Local Government Area, Lagos State, resulted in the deaths of at least three individuals and injuries to two others. The incident occurred on Thursday and was sparked by a dispute over a ₦200 payment demanded from a tricycle operator by suspected area boys.

When the operator refused to pay, his tricycle was seized, leading him to return with others, which escalated into a confrontation. The violence spread through the community, causing panic and resulting in buildings being set ablaze.

The Lagos State Police Command, represented by spokesperson SP Abimbola Adebisi, confirmed the fatalities and injuries, stating that the deceased and injured were taken to the Military Hospital in Yaba for medical attention. Police and military authorities deployed tactical formations to the area to restore order.
