Vigilantes Killed, Village Head Abducted in Kebbi Attack

On April 15, 2026, at approximately 5:00 PM, a terrorist attack occurred in Yantala Village, located in the Bagudu Local Government Area of Kebbi State. Armed men, suspected to be members of a local terrorist group referred to as Mamudawa Boko Haram, stormed the community and opened fire sporadically on residents.

During this assault, three vigilantes were killed; they were identified as Usman Riga from Sabon Gari Village. Additionally, the village head, Garba Ahmadu, aged 85, was abducted alongside a resident named Bala Mazuga.

The attackers also set ablaze a motorcycle during their escape into nearby bush paths. Local sources reported that the assailants operated with superior firepower, prompting residents to flee for safety.

Efforts to rescue the abducted victim are reportedly ongoing, and tension remains high within the community as a result of the attack.
