Bandits Abduct 13 Residents in Kebbi State Attack

Thirteen residents were abducted from Tangaram Village in Wasagu District, Danko Wasagu Local Government Area, Kebbi State, following a midnight attack by bandits. The attack occurred around 1:00 AM on a Sunday, with gunfire reported as the assailants stormed the village.

The Kebbi State Police Command confirmed the abduction on Monday, stating that the victims are adult males, contrary to circulating reports suggesting a higher number of abductees. Preliminary investigations revealed that the victims were taken towards the Zamfara border.

Police spokesperson Bashir Usman indicated that security operations have intensified, with coordinated rescue efforts being conducted along the border between Kebbi and Zamfara states. Eyewitnesses described the attack as terrifying, with bandits arriving on motorcycles and firing into the air.

The surrounding communities have faced repeated attacks due to their proximity to forest corridors linked to Kebbi, Zamfara, and Niger states. Recent incidents have raised concerns about worsening insecurity in border communities across Kebbi State.
