Zenith Bank Team Tennis Tournament Kicks Off in Ikoyi

The 2026 Zenith Bank Team Tennis Tournament began on Monday at the tennis courts of Ikoyi Club 1938, showcasing several exciting matches. The competition is structured in a best-of-nine format during the group stage, transitioning to best-of-three sets in the semi-finals.

Players are organized into various banking groups, including Diaspora Banking, Prestige Banking, Scan to Pay, and Zenith Easy Banking. A highlight from the opening day was Akeem Mustafa of the Zenith Aspire Group defeating current section chairman Victor Onyenkpa 6-3.

Additionally, Azubuike Okonkwo won against Hilary Eledu of Zenith Easy Banking, and Kalada Kienka from Diaspora Banking achieved a 9-0 victory over Emeka Azinge of the Prestige Banking Red Group. In the Blue Group, Pascal Ebhohimen narrowly defeated Uzor Nwankwo 5-4, while Thomas Ighodalo triumphed over Jide Ntephe 8-1.

Onyenkpa expressed satisfaction with the tournament's opening day and anticipated more thrilling matches ahead as the competition progresses.
