Zenith Bank/NBBF Women’s Basketball League Starts August 16

The 2026 edition of the Zenith Bank/NBBF Women’s Basketball League is scheduled to begin on August 16 in Lagos and August 17 in Jos. This premier women's basketball league in Nigeria is sponsored by Zenith Bank Plc in collaboration with the Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF).

Amina Amanchi, the NBBF Secretary General, confirmed that preparations are complete for the league, which is divided into two conferences: Atlantic and Savannah. Each conference will see four teams qualify for the finals in Lagos after two phases of competition.

The Atlantic Conference will feature teams such as First Bank, Sunshine Angels, and IGP Queens, while the Savannah Conference will include Nigeria Customs, Royal Aces, and Titans, among others. Dame (Dr.) Adaora Umeoji, Group Managing Director and CEO of Zenith Bank, expressed excitement about the tournament, noting its role in producing basketball talent for Nigeria and its impact on the national team, D’Tigress, at international competitions.
