Tinubu Appoints Rilwan Babalola as Special Adviser on Power

On Thursday, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu appointed Rilwan Lanr Babalola as his Special Adviser on Power. This role is part of the efforts to revitalize the power sector, as indicated by the establishment of the Presidential Task Force on Power Sector Reset.

The appointment was disclosed in a statement by Bayo Onanuga, who serves as the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the President. Babalola, a former Minister of Power, is expected to leverage his deep sector expertise and proven understanding of the structural and operational challenges within the electricity value chain.

The statement also clarified that Babalola's role is designed to avoid duplicating functions within the energy governance framework, ensuring a streamlined approach to addressing the sector's issues.
