Tinubu Seeks Senate Confirmation for Finance Minister

On Tuesday, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu formally requested the Nigerian Senate to confirm Oyedele as the Minister of State for Finance. The request was conveyed through a letter addressed to the Senate, which was read during the plenary session.

Tinubu urged the Senate to expedite the screening and confirmation process for the nominee. Additionally, the Senate was informed of three other appointments, including Mainasara Ilo as the Executive Secretary of the Nigeria Anti-Doping Centre, with a request to confirm his four-year tenure.

The Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, also read letters seeking Senate approval for other nominees, including Amina Gamawa from Bauchi State and Abdulahi Muktar from Kaduna State, for the Revenue Mobilization Allocation and Fiscal Commission. Furthermore, nominations for the Nigeria Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission were presented, including Magnu Ab as Chairman and Jossi Yaro and Sunday Adebayo as non-executive commissioners.

The Senate was instructed to refer these nominations to the relevant committees for review and report back within one week.
