Tinubu Commemorates Buhari's Legacy on First Anniversary

On the first anniversary of Muhammadu Buhari's death, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the current President of Nigeria, honored Buhari's legacy during a remembrance event in Abuja. Tinubu stated that Buhari earned the trust of Nigerians through his enduring commitment to the nation, which transcended his time in power.

He described Buhari as a patriot who devoted his life to serving Nigeria, first as a military leader and later as an elected president. Tinubu urged Buhari's associates and friends to carry forward the values of honesty, simplicity, and self-discipline that Buhari embodied.

He expressed solidarity with Buhari's family, particularly former First Lady Aisha Buhari and their children, assuring them of the administration's continued support and prayers. Kashim Shettima, the Vice President, recounted Tinubu's concern for Buhari during his final illness in London, highlighting a visit to ensure Buhari lacked nothing during his care.

Buhari served as Nigeria's president from 2015 until his death on July 13, 2025, after a prolonged illness.
