Tinubu Commended for Directing EFCC on Osun Accounts

The Democracy and Good Governance Watch Initiative (DGGWI) has praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his directive to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to vacate the court order that froze the bank accounts of the Osun state government. This intervention is seen as a demonstration of Tinubu's commitment to democratic governance, the rule of law, and the integrity of Nigeria’s electoral process.

In a statement from representatives Comrades Popoola Ajayi, Nelson Ekujumi, and Gbenga Soloki, the group expressed concerns about the timing of the EFCC's actions, particularly as Osun prepares for a governorship election. They noted that Tinubu's actions reflect his prioritization of national interest over partisan politics and reaffirmed that anti-corruption agencies should operate independently.

The group emphasized that the president's intervention sends a strong message that electoral outcomes should be determined by the people's will, not by actions that could unfairly advantage or disadvantage political actors.
