Tinubu Congratulates Gombe Girl for Qur’anic Victory

On Friday, President Bola Tinubu congratulated Maryam Dan’Azumi from Gombe State for her victory in the women’s category at the 46th King Abdulaziz International Qur’anic Competition held in Makkah, Saudi Arabia. Dan’Azumi triumphed over competitors from 132 countries, winning a prize of 300,000 Saudi Riyal, approximately N120 million.

In a statement from his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu praised Dan’Azumi for her exceptional mastery of the Holy Qur’an, calling her victory a personal triumph and a source of national pride. He noted that her achievement follows her elder sister, Hajara Ibrahim Dan Azumi, who won a similar competition in Jordan in 2024.

Tinubu commended the support from their parents, teachers, and mentors, and expressed gratitude to the Saudi Arabian authorities for hosting the event. He emphasized that Dan’Azumi's success reflects the potential of Nigerian youth when combined with discipline and hard work, wishing her continued success in her Qur’anic scholarship.
