Yobe Student Wins NTIC National Mathematics Competition

Maryama Abdullahi Musa, a Junior Secondary School student at the Federal Polytechnic Damaturu Staff School, emerged as the overall winner of the 2026 Nigerian Tulip International Colleges (NTIC) Annual National Mathematics Competition. She outperformed contestants from 101 schools across Nigeria, showcasing the academic prowess of Yobe State.

The competition took place on February 7, 2026, at the Government Girls Unity College, Damaturu, and results were released six months later, confirming her as the best candidate. Maryama also graduated as the Best Student in her section.

The Principal of her school, Mr. Tasimda Chinanda, praised her achievement, emphasizing the school's commitment to academic excellence.

Dr. Ibrahim Bello Bashir, the Rector of the Federal Polytechnic Damaturu, congratulated her and acknowledged the support from her teachers and parents.

Maryama credited her success to discipline, consistency, and the extra coaching from her lesson teacher, Uncle Audu Bukar.
