Tinubu Converts Nasarawa Polytechnic to Mining University

President Bola Tinubu approved the conversion of the Federal Polytechnic Nasarawa into the Federal University of Mining and Engineering Technology Nasarawa, as announced in a statement issued on Saturday by his special adviser on strategic communications, Bayo Onanuga. This decision aligns with the administration's commitment to human capital development and economic transformation through specialized education.

The new university will focus on producing highly skilled graduates and advancing research in critical areas of Nigeria's industrial growth, particularly in the mining sector. The proposal for this conversion was presented by Senator Ahm Wadada Aliyu, representing the Nasarawa West Senatorial District in the National Assembly.

The establishment of this specialized university is expected to leverage Nasarawa State's rich deposits of solid minerals, support the federal government's industrial agenda, and enhance the country's competitiveness by reducing dependence on imported technical expertise. The transition process will involve necessary approvals from relevant government agencies to ensure compliance with educational standards.
