Tinubu Opens International Civil Service Conference 2026

On Wednesday, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu officially opened the International Civil Service Conference 2026 in Abuja, stating that the ongoing reforms in Nigeria's public service are yielding tangible results. He noted that the civil service has demonstrated resilience in responding to global economic pressures and domestic demands.

Tinubu emphasized the government's digital transformation initiatives, revealing that 38 ministries and extra-ministerial departments are transitioning to a paperless workflow system aimed at enhancing efficiency. He praised the leadership of Didi Esther Walson Jack, head of the Federal Civil Service, for implementing the federal civil service strategy for 2021-2025.

The conference theme, "Reform, Resilience, Results," reflects the urgency of modernizing institutions to withstand global disruptions. Tinubu also thanked development partners for their support and urged participation in the conference to share practical solutions for reform.

The conference marks a significant milestone in Nigeria's civil service transformation agenda, with participation expanding from six countries in 2025 to sixteen in 2026.
