Tinubu Defends FCTA TSA Exemption, Praises Wike's Drive

President Bola Tinubu defended the exemption of the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) from the Treasury Single Account (TSA) policy, asserting that this decision would accelerate infrastructure delivery in Abuja. He stated that granting the FCTA greater financial autonomy would eliminate bureaucratic delays that previously hindered project execution.

Tinubu made these remarks on Monday during the commissioning of a new office annex and staff quarters for the Nigerian Law School in Bwari, Abuja. He praised the infrastructure drive of Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, highlighting tangible projects that have transformed Abuja into a modern capital city.

Tinubu's statement, issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Yomi Odunuga, noted that the exemption from the TSA has already yielded positive results. He emphasized the importance of ensuring that infrastructure development does not interfere with the independence of the judiciary, calling for a collaborative approach to governance.

The president also mentioned ongoing investments in the justice sector, including the construction of new courts and facilities.
