Tinubu and APC Deny Forgery Claims in Court Case

President Bola Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress (APC) have requested the Federal High Court in Abuja to dismiss a lawsuit that seeks to disqualify them from the 2027 presidential election. The suit, filed by Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), alleges that Tinubu submitted a forged National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) discharge certificate to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The case, marked FHC/ABJ/CS/1888/2026, names Tinubu, the APC, and INEC as defendants. Justice Inyang Ekwo granted Atiku permission to serve court processes on Tinubu through the APC after unsuccessful attempts to serve him personally.

The court has adjourned the matter until September 28 for further proceedings. In their counter-affidavit, Tinubu and the APC denied the allegations, asserting that the NYSC has never disowned the discharge certificate issued to Tinubu.

They argued that the forgery claim requires proof beyond reasonable doubt and that no disclaimer from the NYSC has been produced by the plaintiffs.
