Olujinmi Defends Tinubu Against NYSC Forgery Claims

Akin Olujinmi, SAN, the former Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, has dismissed allegations that President Bola Tinubu submitted a forged National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) discharge certificate to qualify for the 2027 presidential election. Leading Tinubu’s legal team in a case filed by former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Olujinmi described the allegations as unfounded and unsupported by evidence from the NYSC.

The case, marked FHC/ABJ/CS/1888/2026, challenges Tinubu’s eligibility based on claims of forgery. Olujinmi argued that the plaintiffs failed to provide evidence from the NYSC to substantiate their claims and criticized them for not producing the original document allegedly forged.

He emphasized that allegations of forgery require a high standard of proof, which he contended the plaintiffs did not meet. Additionally, he argued that Atiku lacked legal standing to challenge Tinubu’s candidacy since he is not a member of the APC and did not participate in the party's presidential primary.
