Atiku Abubakar Seeks to Disqualify Tinubu for 2027 Election

Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has initiated legal proceedings at the Federal High Court in Abuja to disqualify President Bola Ahmed Tinubu from participating in the 2027 presidential election. On Friday, Atiku personally submitted an affidavit supporting the suit, which names President Tinubu, the All Progressives Congress (APC), and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as defendants.

The suit is based on allegations that Tinubu presented a forged National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) discharge certificate to INEC for both the 2023 and 2027 elections. Atiku claims that the certificate submitted bears the name “Tinubu Bola Adekunle,” which differs from Tinubu’s actual name, Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

He emphasized the importance of the case, stating that it pertains to the integrity of the presidential office and the Constitution. Atiku also requested INEC to produce Tinubu’s Form CF001 related to the elections, having previously sought certified copies without receiving a response.
