Atiku Sues Tinubu Over Alleged Forged NYSC Certificate

Atiku Abubakar has initiated legal proceedings against President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the All Progressives Congress (APC), and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) regarding Tinubu's eligibility for the 2027 presidential election. The lawsuit, filed under Sections 137(1)(j), 139(1)(a)(i), and 285(14)(c) of the 1999 Constitution (as amended) and provisions of the Electoral Act, 2026, centers on allegations that Tinubu presented a forged National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) certificate to INEC.

Atiku claims that the certificate submitted bears the name “Tinubu Bola Adekunle,” which differs from Tinubu's official name, Bola Ahmed Tinubu. He has requested the court to determine the validity of the certificate and whether it disqualifies Tinubu from the upcoming election.

Atiku emphasized the importance of the matter, stating that it concerns the integrity of the presidency and the Constitution. He has also requested INEC to produce Tinubu's Form CF001 related to both the 2023 and 2027 elections for judicial review.
