Tinubu Orders ICPC to Investigate PFIPC Scandal

On Tuesday, President Bola Tinubu directed the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) to conduct a thorough investigation into the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC) scandal. The ICPC is required to submit a comprehensive report within 30 days.

This directive follows discoveries of fictitious claims regarding the establishment of the PFIPC, which allegedly lacks legal basis under presidential instruments. The investigation will focus on false appointment letters and government documents purportedly used to gain official recognition, including diplomatic support and visa facilitation.

The ICPC is also tasked with identifying weaknesses in government institutional procedures that may have been exploited. Tinubu emphasized the need for immediate measures to prevent similar abuses and instructed relevant ministries and agencies to provide the ICPC with necessary information and records to expedite the investigation.

He stated that any individuals found culpable would be dealt with strictly according to the law.
