ICPC Investigates Alleged Fake Agency Amid House Hearing

The Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC) has commenced an investigation into a suspected fake agency, the Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council (PFIPC), following a directive from President Bola Tinubu. The investigation was initiated after the President issued a 30-day ultimatum for the ICPC to investigate the agency's existence and operations.

During a public hearing held in Abuja, ICPC Director General Adeniyi Adeyemi spoke about the investigation's progress. The House Committee has summoned the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Georg Akum, along with other officials, including ministers and the head of the civil service, to provide clarity on the agency's establishment and operations.

Didi Walson Jack, the head of the civil service, noted that the agency's establishment lacked the necessary documentation and approvals. The committee is also reviewing the agency's organizational structure and staffing requirements as part of the investigation.
