Tinubu Dissolves Privatisation Committee, Assigns AGF Role

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has officially dissolved the Privatisation Committee (PIC), which was established in 2000 during former President Olusegun Obasanjo's administration to manage the privatisation, sale, and lease of Federal Government properties under the monetisation policy. The committee included the Minister of Housing as chairperson and representatives from various ministries and sectors.

Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, stated that the Federal Executive Council approved the establishment of a Panel of Inquiry on March 22, 2001, which worked for 21 months to produce a guiding White Paper. However, the current administration found that the PIC's activities had extended beyond its original mandate, leading to numerous litigations across the country.

Consequently, President Tinubu directed that all matters relating to the PIC's activities be coordinated by the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Lateef Fagbemi, effective November 5, 2025. The former Secretary of the PIC, B.

S. Dutsin-Ma, has been instructed to cease acting on behalf of the committee.
