CSOs Demand Tinubu Suspend Gbajabiamila Over PFIPC Scandal

Civil society organizations (CSOs) and legal practitioners are calling for President Bola Tinubu to suspend Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila amid allegations related to the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC). They argue that suspending Gbajabiamila would facilitate a credible and transparent investigation into the matter, which has raised significant public concern.

The Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC) has been tasked with investigating the allegations and is expected to submit findings within 30 days. The controversy began when Matthew Adeniyi Adeyemi claimed that the PFIPC was illegitimately established and linked to a budgetary allocation of N1.3 billion in the 2026 budget.

Gbajabiamila has denied any involvement and threatened legal action against Adeyemi for defamation. Stakeholders, including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, have joined calls for a thorough investigation, emphasizing the need for transparency and accountability in government operations.
