Tinubu Donates Salary to Support Armed Forces Welfare Fund

President Bola Tinubu announced the establishment of a welfare fund for members of the Nigerian Armed Forces, aimed at supporting soldiers currently serving, those injured during operations, and families of officers who lost their lives in service to the country. As part of this initiative, Tinubu will donate his 34-month salary, which he has received since assuming office in May 2023, to the fund.

The fund will be managed through a special account opened by the Federal Government, serving as a central pool to assist affected personnel and their dependents. This initiative is designed to work alongside existing welfare insurance arrangements for military personnel, focusing on direct support for those facing risks in their daily lives.

Tinubu has appealed to state governors, members of the National Assembly, and private organizations to contribute to the fund, emphasizing the need for collective support for soldiers and their families during tragic circumstances.
