Tinubu Donates Salary to Police and Military Trust Funds

President Bola Tinubu has decided to donate his entire salary to support the Nigerian Police Trust Fund and the Armed Forces Trust Fund, contributing N10,000 monthly to each fund. This decision was communicated in a letter dated April 15, 2026, addressed to the Minister of Finance and the Chief of Defence Staff.

Tinubu's motivation stems from a desire to support uniformed personnel who risk their lives daily to ensure peace and safety in Nigeria. He called on patriotic citizens to make small sacrifices to help bridge funding gaps faced by government agencies, thereby creating a more secure environment for the populace.

The letter emphasized the importance of these contributions and instructed the Securities and Exchange Commission to deduct the monthly contributions from his salary until his retirement from service.
