Tinubu's Infrastructure Plans for South-East Commended

Ohanaeze Ndigbo, the apex Igbo socio-cultural organization, has praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for initiating significant infrastructural changes in the South-East, particularly with the Enugu-Onitsha Expressway project. The federal Ministry of Works has announced that the road is scheduled to reopen on March 31, 2026, which has been met with enthusiasm from the Ndigbo community.

The Enugu-Onitsha route has posed serious risks for residents due to its poor condition over the past two decades. The statement, issued on Wednesday by Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro, the Deputy President General of Ohanaeze, and Chief Chineyeze Ohia, the National Spokesperson, highlighted this development as a stark contrast to previous neglect.

The organization emphasized the need for additional funding to expedite ongoing federal road projects in the region, including the Makurdi-Nsukka and Calabar-Abakaliki routes. The reopening of the Enugu-Onitsha Expressway is seen as a vital transport link that symbolizes hope for renewed economic growth in the South-East.
