Tinubu Orders Opening of Enugu-Onitsha Highway for Easter

On Thursday, David Umahi, the Minister of Works, announced that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ordered the opening of a completed section of the Enugu-Onitsha Expressway to facilitate travel during the Easter celebrations. Umahi reaffirmed the federal government's commitment to enhancing road infrastructure across the Southeast.

He discussed the past conditions of the road and the importance of the project, which involves a tax credit arrangement with MTN Nigeria and RCC. The minister highlighted that the journey from Enugu to Onitsha currently takes seven hours, and the project aims to reduce this significantly.

Tinubu's administration has made progress on various road projects, including the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway and the Aba-Ikot Ekpen road, with significant portions already completed. Umahi emphasized the need for continued support from Southeast leaders to ensure further development and avoid marginalization in federal projects.
