Datti Baba-Ahmed Critiques Tinubu's Administration

Datti Baba-Ahmed, the former vice-presidential candidate of the Labour Party in the 2023 general elections, criticized President Bola Tinubu's administration, stating it is more oppressive than the military regimes of Ibrahim Babangida, Sani Abacha, and Abdulsalami Abubakar. In an interview on The Mic-On Podcast hosted by Seun Okinbaloye, Baba-Ahmed accused the Tinubu administration of using "brute civil force" and state institutions to suppress political opposition.

He argued that the current concentration of political power is unprecedented and that even past military rulers respected constitutional principles. Baba-Ahmed advised Tinubu to prepare to hand over power after his current tenure instead of contesting the 2027 presidential election, asserting that none of the current political contenders, including Peter Obi, would improve Nigeria.

He also criticized the National Assembly for being too close to the executive branch, claiming it has become an extension of the presidency.
