Tinubu Government Accused of Weakening Opposition Parties

Timi Frank, the former deputy national public secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), accused the Bola Tinubu administration of implementing strategies to weaken opposition parties in Nigeria. In a statement released on Friday, Frank asserted that the government is deploying state institutions to ensure that no political party can field a strong candidate capable of challenging the incumbent in future elections.

He warned that such actions could lead to a crisis in the country if not addressed urgently. Frank specifically criticized the judiciary and legislature for frustrating opposition forces and described the current democratic situation as resembling a monarch system.

He also highlighted the recent decision by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to delist the African Democratic Congress, led by David Mark, attributing this to the Tinubu government's influence. INEC clarified that the party was derecognized due to pending court disputes.
