Tinubu Commends NDLEA for Major Meth Lab Bust in Ogun

On May 16, 2026, President Bola Tinubu commended the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) for dismantling Nigeria's largest secret methamphetamine laboratory located in the Abidagba Forest, Ogun State. The operation, led by NDLEA Chairman Brig. Gen. Buba Marwa (retd), resulted in the arrest of three Mexican nationals—Martinez Felix Nemecto (46), Jesu Lopez Vall (40), and Torrero Juan Carlo (51)—and four Nigerians.

The agency seized drugs valued at approximately ₦480 billion in the international market, including 2,419.48 kilograms of chemical substances. The operation also involved a simultaneous raid in Lekki, Lagos, targeting a residence linked to an alleged cartel kingpin, resulting in further arrests.

Tinubu emphasized the importance of collective efforts in combating narcotics and warned against the growing influence of drug cartels in West Africa, urging citizens to report suspicious activities to assist security agencies.
