Tinubu Congratulates Team Nigeria on 24 Medals at Commonwealth

President Bola Tinubu congratulated Team Nigeria on its outstanding performance at the 2026 Commonwealth Games held in Glasgow, Scotland, where the team secured a total of 24 medals: 10 gold, 7 silver, and 7 bronze. In a statement released on Tuesday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu praised the athletes for their exemplary representation of Nigeria and their demonstration of resilience, determination, and excellence.

He noted that the medals won reflect the hard work and perseverance of the athletes. Tinubu emphasized that the experience gained would serve as a foundation for future successes and inspire young Nigerians to embrace values of commitment and national service.

He also commended the Nigeria Olympic Committee and the National Sports Commission for their roles in supporting Nigerian athletes and developing sports. The President reaffirmed his administration's commitment to investing in sports development and improving training facilities for athletes.
