Tinubu Empowers APC Governors for Party Primaries

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has granted the governors of the All Progressives Congress (APC) the authority to decide on the conduct of party primaries ahead of the upcoming elections. This announcement was made by Governor Umar Bago during a press briefing following a high-level meeting at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

Governor Bago expressed gratitude for President Tinubu's support, stating that the president has allowed the governors to take full charge of organizing the primaries while respecting the electoral process within their respective states. The decision is in accordance with the provisions of the electoral act, enabling the governors to conduct either consensus or direct primaries.

Governor Bago emphasized that the president has given a clear directive to the governors to proceed with the primaries based on the electoral act, reinforcing the trust placed in them to manage the party's internal processes.
