Tinubu Urges APC Governors for Fair Primaries Compliance

On Thursday, President Bola Tinubu met with 31 governors of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abuja, urging them to ensure hitch-free party primaries across the states. He emphasized the importance of strict compliance with the Electoral Act to preserve the unity and cohesion of the party.

The meeting, which included Kwara State Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq and Niger State Governor Mohd Bago, focused on measures to strengthen party cohesion following recent elections. Tinubu reaffirmed his support for the party's decision to allow states to adopt either consensus or direct primaries in line with the Electoral Act.

Abdulrazaq, who is the chairman of the Nigeria Governors' Forum (NGF), expressed gratitude for Tinubu's support, stating that governors were given the mandate to conduct primaries based on the Electoral Act. The meeting was attended by no fewer than 18 governors, including Hope Uzodimma of Imo State and Babagana Zulum of Borno State, among others.
