Tinubu Meets APC Governors to Discuss Election Primaries

On Thursday, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu convened a meeting with governors of the All Progressives Congress (APC) at the State House in Abuja. The discussion focused on strategies to ensure a peaceful and transparent primary election process.

Attendees included notable governors such as Hope Uzodimma of Imo State, Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe State, Babagana Zulum of Borno State, and several others. The meeting aimed to facilitate a smooth electoral process, with Tinubu emphasizing the importance of conducting primaries in accordance with the law.

Governors were encouraged to maintain autonomy while adhering to the electoral framework. The President expressed his support for the governors and provided directives for the conduct of the primaries, allowing for either consensus or direct primaries as per the Electoral Act.

The meeting concluded with a commitment to ensure that the primaries are free of rancor, ultimately strengthening the party as they approach the elections.
