Atiku Demands Answers on Tinubu's Multi-Billion Contracts

Atiku Abubakar, the former Vice President of Nigeria, has demanded that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu respond to allegations concerning multi-billion dollar contracts associated with a close associate of the President. In a statement from his Senior Special Assistant on Public Communication, Phrank Shaibu, Atiku expressed that the revelations have escalated concerns about the Tinubu administration’s procurement practices into an international credibility crisis.

He highlighted that the reported $20 billion, approximately ₦27 trillion, is a significant amount that warrants transparency regarding how these contracts were awarded, whether they were competitively tendered, and what tax concessions were granted. Atiku criticized the administration for asking Nigerians to endure economic sacrifices while questions linger over contracts linked to the President's associates.

He urged the Presidency to publish detailed procurement information and emphasized that Nigeria should not operate as a "friends-and-family investment portfolio." The call for accountability comes amid rising living costs and economic challenges faced by the populace.
