Atiku Abubakar Challenges Tinubu to Investigate Him

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has publicly challenged President Bola Tinubu's administration to investigate and prosecute him if they possess evidence of any wrongdoing related to the controversial $16 billion power sector expenditure. In a statement issued on Wednesday by his Senior Special Assistant on Public Communication, Phrank Shaibu, Atiku argued that if there were genuine allegations against him, they should not resurface decades after he left office.

He stated that he chaired the National Council on Privatisation but did not oversee the implementation of the power projects, which were managed by the responsible minister. Atiku accused the Tinubu administration of using these allegations to divert attention from the economic hardships faced by Nigerians following the removal of the petrol subsidy.

He questioned the management of increased government revenue from this subsidy removal and demanded accountability. Atiku expressed his willingness to face investigation and prosecution if credible evidence is presented against him.
