Tinubu Directs Deployment of CNG Kits Amid Fuel Price Surge

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has issued a directive for the immediate deployment of 100,000 compressed natural gas (CNG) conversion kits across Nigeria as a measure to cushion the impact of soaring petrol prices. This initiative, part of the Presidential Initiative for Compressed Natural Gas, aims to enable vehicle owners to convert their engines to run on gas.

The deployment of these kits is expected to occur within the next two to three weeks and will particularly target commercial transport operators, including tricycle vehicle owners. The directive follows unrest in the Middle East, which has affected fuel prices globally, including in Nigeria.

Tinubu is closely monitoring the situation, especially in light of the ongoing crisis involving Iranian, American, and Israeli forces that has contributed to rising transportation expenses.
